Abstract

Through the example of the jobless protests that took place in Montreal between 1919 and 1925, this article has two main objectives. The first one is to highlight the importance of unemployment and the mobilizations of the unemployed during the Workers' Revolt in Canada (1917-1925). The second one is to make a new contribution to the Quebec historiography of the Workers' Revolt by postulating that this event must be appreciated more broadly than solely in the light of the history of international unions and the strike waves of 1919-1921.
