Abstract

This article aims to explore the transformations in the elementary and secondary education sector in the context of the neoliberal turn of the Quebec state, focusing more specifically on the teacher’s working conditions. Through a corpus made of testimonies from workers and archives from daily newspapers, unions and ministerial funds, it is possible to trace the implementation of the first neoliberal reforms from the beginning of the 1980s. These have taken the form of a precariousness of employment conditions, an increase in the workload and an upheaval in the relationship to the profession, which this article will focus on.
