Écrire l’histoire de l’indépendantisme québécois

Abstract

This article proposes to take a first synthetic look at the historiographical and interpretative trends that have been put forward by practitioners who worked to historicise the contemporary independence movement, from the late 1960s to the first decades of the 2000s. The author highlights how scholars have interpreted the deployment of the independence idea in the context of the cultural and socio-economic modernisation of Quebec society, but also the methodological approaches favoured to study the main independence groups.
